"It's like love, more than anything"
-TBS Regular
The Big Sing started in January of 2017, and since then has become the leading group singalong performers in the Atlantic provinces. Initially started as a trial, TBS has been regularly holding performances every two weeks in Halifax as bars including The Company House, The Seahorse Tavern, and Gus Pub, bringing its community-building impact to thousands Haligonians along the way. The Big Sing team has also become a mobile operation, performing at festivals, conferences, and private events as far away as Quebec City. Notable performances include special events with Stewart Legere, Hillsburn, and singing with Canadian pop-icon Feist. We've also appeared on the mainstage at Pride Halifax Festival, Canada Day celebrations on the Halifax Commons, Neptune Theatre, and in the Downtown Halifax Festival of Lights. Videos of The Big Sing in action have been viewed by a cumulative audience of over 300,000 people, and our events have been profiled on CBC (television, online, and radio), Global News, CTV Atlantic, The Chronicle Herald, Halifax Today, and The Coast Halifax's Weekly). In 2018, The Big Sing was honoured to be shortlisted as Halifax's Best Community Project by readers of The Coast. In 2019, The Big Sing launched a new branch of its impact, partnering with the Community Foundation of Nova Scotia to create a charitable endowment fund that will strive to support performing arts learning in the Nova Scotian region for decades to come. The Big Sing Community Fund's inaugural partner is the MacPhee Centre for Creative Learning.
